About Astellas Rx+® Healthcare Innovation Challenge
Astellas is committed to creating a world where individuals can lead mentally and physically healthy lives by providing healthcare solutions other than traditional medication, through the Rx+® business. Unfortunately, optimal solutions do not always exist, particularly for sensory-disabled people and individuals with restricted access to medicine.
If you have any idea or solutions which could help sensory-disabled people or improve access to medical care for individuals who are limited due to geographical, financial, physical restrictions or for whom current medical solutions are insufficient, the initiative would love to hear from you. Astellas is looking for Health-tech or cross-industry solutions that can free patients from daily life problems caused by diseases and disabilities.
Basically, you are invited to showcase solutions that will drive transformation in one of the two areas:
- Empowering sensory-disabled people through technology. Enhance the quality of life for patients with sensory disabilities (e.g. blindness, deafness, etc.) or help them retrieve part of their functions.
- Improving access to healthcare through technology. Speed up and make access to primary healthcare available for all individuals, especially to the disadvantaged groups.
Prizes And Incentives
Winners of the challenge will have access to:
Collaborate with Astellas: The winning teams will have the chance to collaborate with and receive support from Astellas to implement their innovative solution.
Proof of Concepts (PoCs): Up to US$60K worth PoCs for the winning team(s)!
Pitch To Astellas Management: All finalists will have the chance to present their innovative solution to Astellas Management at the Grand Finals in Tokyo! [depending on the situation of COVID-19, it will be held not on site but online. Details will be announced when the date of Grand Finals approaches.]

Astellas Rx+® Healthcare Innovation Challenge Selection Criteria
The solutions will be evaluated based on the following criteria:
Innovativeness: How innovative is your solution in its use of technology and compared to existing products/services? How well does your solution meet the needs of the market and bring value to end customers?
Implementation: Are your solutions and business plan feasible? What are the hurdles to implementation and how will they be overcome?
Future Prospects: What is your solution’s potential in creating a positive social impact? How expandable/scalable/sustainable is your business?

- Application Phase: August 5 – October 18.
- Online Voting: October 19 – October 30.
- Mentoring Phase: Nov. 2 – Nov. 23
- Online Voting: Nov. 24 – Nov. 30
- Mentoring Phase: Dec 1 – Mid Jan.
- Final Event: Mid/Late Jan. 2021
