Access to reliable, affordable and clean energy is one of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. To reach this goal, it means providing electricity to 1.0 billion people and clean cooking systems to 3.0 billion people worldwide by 2030.

Programme Eligibility
The Energy Access Booster 2020 is open to entrepreneurs who are based in Sub-Saharan Africa or Asia. Applications from Sub-Saharan Africa or Asia will be accepted but preference will be giving to entrepreneurs operating outside East Africa. This is because of the high number of entrepreneurs selected from East Africa in Booster 2019.
Firms at the developmental stage focusing on Clean Cooking and Waste-to-Energy will be the target for the 2020 program.

Benefits of The Energy Access Booster
Depending on the needs of the entrepreneur and the capability of each partner, the selected entrepreneurs will benefit from the following:
- A financial contribution of a maximum of $50,000 per selected entrepreneur
- A strategic advisory consulting mission
- Operational support
- Publicity for their company
The support for the selected entrepreneurs will include: identification of relevant and sustainable business models, customer acquisition and retention, pilot project development, production organization, building appropriate distribution model, national or international scale-up and financing.
Important Information
The call for projects has been launched at the Clean Cooking Forum on November 5th, 2019 and application will close on December 13th, 2019. Successful applicants are scheduled to be selected by the end of January 2020. The support provided by the Energy Access Booster will last up to 14 months following the selection.
