The first call for concept notes for the UK’s Department for International Development IMPACT Programme is now open. The IMPACT Programme funding will channel up to £5,000,000 in grants into impact investment.

The funding will be used to design and test innovative investment products, tools, and services that will increase the flow and distribution of capital in Sub-Sahara Africa and South Asia. Its focus is on innovative investments products and services that align to the Global Goals.

The Impact Programme was launched by the UK Department for International Development (DFID) in 2012. DFID through the programme is providing £157.8m over 23 years to catalyse the market for impact investment in Sub-Saharan Africa and South Asia.

Purpose Of The IMPACT Programme
IMPACT Programme will not be investing in individual businesses or impact investing funds, but will be focused on reducing market-level barriers in the impact investing ecosystem.
The IMPACT Programme funds a range of non-state actors, including but not limited to, private sector companies; civil society organisations (CSOs), nongovernmental organisations (NGOs), international nongovernmental organisations (INGOs), research organisations, policy institutes; and trade and industry associations.
Applicants who demonstrate their commitment to sustainability and wider ecosystem engagement with counterpart or match funding will be at an advantage.

Important Information
- Ideas should demonstrate the potential to be replicated and scaled to strengthen the wider impact investing ecosystem.
- Initiatives that focus on interventions in South Asia and Sub-Saharan Africa through partnerships with organisations based in or currently working in these regions are encouraged
- Technical assistance to mentor organisations will be provided through the application process for those applicants that make it through to the second stage.

Deadline And How To Apply For The IMPACT Programme
The deadline for submitting a concept note is 20th November, 2019.
