NIMechE Design Challenge/ Ludenso Create Hackathon For Young Africans

NIMechE Design Challenge Team is calling for application for the Ludenso Create Hackathon – a Pan-African Hackathon focused on empowering young people to solve the challenges currently faced in Africa.

About The Ludenso Create Hackthon

The hackathon is organised by the NIMechE Design Challenge Team and sponsored by Ludenso. It will last for a period of 6 weeks and equip young people with the skills, knowledge, tools and capabilities that engineer confidence, performance and growth in innovating sustainable solutions using emerging technologies to mitigate the challenges currently faced in Africa.

The theme of the program is Using Ludenso Create (an AR CAD tool), design a sustainable solution to a major problem in Africa.

The objectives are to:

• 1. Identify the major problems and analyse them, then choose one clearly stated focus problem.
• 2. Develop a potential solution to the problem using Ludenso Create and make a short video of the solution.

Eligibility Criteria

Basically, the hackathon program is;

1. Open to only young African people between the age of 13 – 35 years old.
2. Peopl who have demonstrated experience and passion for sustainable development, collaboration, and innovation.
3. The hackathon will be held fully in English. Therefore, as an applicant, you should be able to communicate well in English.
4. You should have stable internet connectivity and reliable access to a PC (Windows and MacBook) or an iPad.

Prizes And Awards

Top 3 Winning teams will emerge from the hackathon and a special certificate from Ludenso will be presented to each winner.

The Top 3 winning teams will receive the following prizes;

• First place

1. 5 MagiMask Headset for all team members
2. 2-year access to Ludenso Create (worth $900 per school), and NIMechE Design Challenge and Ludenso Branding for all team members
3. 1-hour Mentorship session for each team member
4. NIMechE Design Challenge and Ludenso Branded items for all team members

• Second place

1. 1 MagiMask for Team Lead, 2-year access to Ludenso Create, and NIMechE Design Challenge Branding for all team members
2. 1-hour Mentorship session for each team member
3. NIMechE Design Challenge and Ludenso Branded items for all team members

• Third place

1. 1 MagiMask for Team Lead, 1-year access to Ludenso Create, and NIMechE Design Challenge Branding for all team members
2. 1-hour Mentorship session for each team member
